The Handheld Contact Professional Edition 3.0 iPhone app delivers a fresh, intuitive user experience, powerful calendar functionality, enhanced contact management, improved performance, and more, so you can get more done while you're on the go.
Why this upgrade is different
This is a major release. With significant changes made in the application and how data is stored, it is necessary to resend data from the Handheld Contact computer application on your ACT! machine to complete the upgrade. Failing to resend data will result in service interruption.
STEP 1 Choose a time to upgrade
The best time to upgrade is when you use your iPhone the least (such as in the evening after work) and have access to the Handheld Contact computer application on your ACT! machine.
STEP 2 Upgrade Handheld Contact on your iPhone
You've done this before so this step is easy! Simply update Handheld Contact on your iPhone through the App Store.
STEP 3 Run and configure Handheld Contact on your iPhone
This is a major upgrade with significant changes that require users to set up Handheld Contact on their iPhone like it's a fresh start.
You'll have to have your Handheld Contact account username and password handy to complete this step. Remember, your username is the e-mail address you created your Handheld Contact account with.
Forgot your password? Simply reset your password, and use your new password on your iPhone and also update it in the Handheld Contact computer application.
STEP 4 Open the Handheld Contact computer application
Access the ACT! computer running the Handheld Contact computer application and open Handheld Contact.
By default a shortcut to Handheld Contact was placed on your computer's desktop when you installed our application.
If you cannot find it:
Click the Windows Start button
ClickPrograms
Locate Handheld Contact and click it. Note that it may be under a 'Handheld Contact' or 'J2X Technologies' folder depending on what version you are running.
STEP 5 Resend your ACT! data from the Handheld Contact computer application
In the top menu, clickMaintenance, and clickResend All Data to Handheld.
Check the box for your account and clickSend All.
ClickYes so that your ACT! data is sent to your iPhone.
Your data is now sending and it is critical to let this complete before moving to the next step. This step may take a while depending on your Handheld Contact sync configuration.
STEP 6 Sync your iPhone
Open Handheld Contact on your iPhone
PressSync Status in the lower menu
PressSync Now in the upper right
Wait for the sync to finish. This step may take a while depending on your Handheld Contact sync configuration.
Upgrade is complete
Once your iPhone successfully completes syncing after resending data from the Handheld Contact computer application you're done!
